Sedona AZ (January 26, 2016) – The Red Rock District of the Coconino National Forest is seeking public comments on the proposal to add non-motorized trails to the official trail system in the area of Rimrock, Cottonwood and Sedona.The proposal includes a trail to link the existing Cliffrose Trailhead to the Lime Kiln Trail on the outskirts of Cottonwood near Mingus Avenue; a trail to cross Wet Beaver Creek near Montezuma Well National Monument, and several trails at the west end of the City of Sedona that would connect with the current Girdner Trailhead near the Red Rock High School.

Sedona AZ (January 25, 2016) – On Sunday, January 17, 2016, at approximately 00:37 am Sedona Fire District (SFD) emergency crews were dispatched to a reported rescue in a remote area in the Coconino National Forest west of Bear Mountain. Crews worked through the night and were able to complete the rescue by about 5:30 am. Initial crews arrived in challenging conditions that included difficult terrain, ice and cold weather that made it difficult to gain access to the site by foot and/or motor vehicles.
