Sedona AZ (February 23, 2015) – The Sedona Arts Center Ceramics Department’s outreach program traveled to Nicaragua with Dr. Julie Williams to join her nonprofit Humanitarian Efforts Reaching Out (HERO) for an 8-day humanitarian mission last month. SAC Department head Dennis Ott and ceramics student Lew Reilly worked with representatives from Potters for Peace, a nonprofit worldwide humanitarian organization, to build a kiln that will enable locals to create clay water filters for purifying drinking water and vessels for irrigation.

By Ted Gtussing … I really intended on going to church this morning … started painting the patch work on the stucco and figured I would be done in time to get to church late, but that didn’t happen. So at 12:30 I finished the deck side of the house and it is now ready to get a full coat. The trailer owner intended to celebrate the New Year at the trailer with her family, but due to the cold weather and road conditions, the plan was delayed leaving the trailer unoccupied. I like this one a lot with two dropping in to join their buddies for a drink and clean up a bit … sounds like something straight out of the old west … fun.

By Ted Grussing … today that is, and it did it very well … my primary computer station is currently down for a complete physical relocation of assets … going back to four monitors and in an effort to regain a measure of control over my work flow the monitors are being mounted on two dual monitor stands. This gives me a huge boost in available desktop space … that translates into more room for One to stretch out and likely enough room for me to work at the same time. Should have it back up and running tomorrow sometime.

Sedona AZ (February 17, 2015) – On February 15, 2015, just after 1 PM, YCSO deputies were called out to the Thunder Mountain Trail on Capitol Butte in Sedona regarding a 66-year-old man from Idaho who was stuck on a ledge. The man had hiked to the top of Capitol Butte and upon descent he took the wrong trail which led him to an area where he could no longer descend, in part, because of a prior shoulder injury. The man was calm during his contact with deputies and remained stationary as requested.
By Ted Grussing One of my all-time favorite composites is the original Astro Squirrel; it is a shot I took of a backlit squirrel in the trees in the arroyo between the 2nd fairway and the 8th tee box and shot from the 8th tee box. When I looked at that shot I just knew that it projected more than just a happy squirrel and I got to work and created the first composite of the squirrel and the universe of which he and we are all a part of.
