Ankle Bracelet places 1 of the Suspects at Crime Scene
Cottonwood AZ (February 20, 2015) – On January 1, 2015, 3 male suspects broke into a parked travel trailer on Old Hwy 279 in Cottonwood. The trailer owner intended to celebrate the New Year at the trailer with her family, but due to the cold weather and road conditions, the plan was delayed leaving the trailer unoccupied. Upon returning to the in the afternoon of January 1st, she found it had been burglarized and vandalized.
Items missing from the trailer were valued at approximately $600, and the damage to the trailer itself was $4500.00. The suspects broke two windows, tore a fixed television from its mount, and sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the trailer’s interior.
A cellular telephone was found in the trailer that did not belong to the victim. A record of ownership for the phone returned to William Grosz, age 18 from Cottonwood. Grosz was on juvenile probation at the time of the burglary, and was wearing a court ordered GPS bracelet monitor. The monitor showed Grosz was at the trailer during the time frame of the burglary. Grosz was contacted and after initially lying to detectives, admitted he was responsible for the crime(s). He also admitted being alcohol impaired during the offense and operating a motor vehicle with alcohol in his system. Grosz would not name his accomplices, but ultimately mentioned a false name that detectives eventually identified as Drake Brown, age 18 and also from Cottonwood.
During the interview with Grosz, his juvenile probation officer was present. After the interview, Grosz was transported to the Prescott Juvenile Detention Center and booked on multiple probation violations.
Brown was contacted by detectives and unwilling to admit any participation. Ultimately, when confronted with evidence, Brown admitted involvement. Brown also implicated a third suspect identified as Brenen Clark, age 18 from Cottonwood. Clark was contacted and unwilling to admit any participation. Like Brown, when confronted with evidence, Clark admitted his involvement. Clark was over 18 at the time of the offense. He was arrested on January 26, 2015, and booked at the Camp Verde Jail on charges of Burglary, Criminal Damage and Trespassing. He has since been released on a $5000 bond. Brown was under 18 at the time of the offense and was arrested one day after turning 18. He was booked on similar charges at the Camp Verde Jail on February 3, 2015 and was released on $10,000 bond the following day.
On February 18, 2015, Grosz was transported by detectives from the Juvenile Detention Center to the Camp Verde Jail. Once at the jail, Grosz was kept separate from the adult population until midnight on his 18th birthday at which time he was booked as an adult. Charges included Trespass, Burglary and Criminal Damage. He was released the next day on a $2000 bond.
All 3 suspects were uncooperative throughout the investigation and continued a pattern of deception until being confronted with actual evidence. Adult prosecution status is likely for all suspects.

As of this writing, none of the stolen property has been recovered. Suspects claim much of it was destroyed after learning detectives were closing in.
