Sedona AZ (February 17, 2015) – Rosemary Ellen Guiley’s meditation circles are a powerful immersion experience combining sacred sound, sacred text, silence, and sitting and walking meditations. Sacred sound includes chanting for balancing the hemispheres of the brain. Sacred text includes short readings from the Egyptian Book of the Dead concerning the immortality of the soul and the celebration of all things in creation. Periods of silence enable profound spiritual insights to emerge. Sitting meditation is varied with the Zen practice of kinhin, a silent, clockwise walking meditation that directs the flow of the universal life force through the body…

By Ted Grussing … after my first, but before my second sugar free vanilla latte this morning (each is laced with three shots of espresso) I headed out for my morning walk and somewhere along the path I heard a Cardinal but had trouble locating it … finally found it and here is that beautiful flying machine. Then it was breakfast and out and resumed patching stucco as I am hoping to get the next long leg of our home (the deck side) painted this week. Three hours of that and then into town to have another SFV Latte with…

By Henry Twombly, Sedona Resident(February 15, 2015) Nearly every time I volunteer at the library lately, some headline piques my interest. After I scrutinize the article, I feel compelled to write a response. This time it was “City plans economic development.” The article acknowledges that Sedona is “a tourist-based community” and that past efforts to diversify the economy has met “with little success.” One reason is that the City has “just 78 acres of vacant commercial land.” The Council suggested options for this land use were “creek access, better use of Sedona Cultural Park, a museum, a recreation center, a…

By Ted Grussing … today was one of those days that has to come along every once in a while that helps define the truly good days. Kind of a minor disaster in many regards, but it all ended up okay. After picking up another bag of premium food for our birds and some wax to do the plane it looked like I might be able to get a 20 or 30 minutes flight in before sunset. Quick shot up to the airport and about 5:30PM it was into the air and got some good stuff. I also was using…

By Ted Grussing Every once in a while it is fun to shoot the Sedona Airport (KSEZ) from different angles always looking for a fresh perspective … and another sale to the Airport … quite a few of my shots grace offices and the terminal building.
