    Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade Entry Forms Due

    logo_stpatricksSedona AZ (February 12, 2015) – Last call for entries in the 45th Annual St. Patrick’s Parade! Monday, February 23rd is the deadline for all those who wish to participate. Submit your parade entry forms as soon as possible because entry slots are limited and filled on a first-come first-served basis.

    Entry forms for the Parade were sent out to all previous participants, and we would also love to see new faces! So, if you need an entry form, print it from Sedona Main Street Program’s website (www.sedonamainstreet.com) or pick up a copy in the Chamber Visitor Center at 331 Forest Road in Uptown Sedona. The entry fee is $100 per business entry and $25 per non-profit or individual applicant.

    The festivities will be on Saturday, March 14th in Uptown Sedona. The Parade begins at 10:30 am, making its way down Jordan Road starting at the Jordan Historical Park and ending at Mesquite Avenue. A free Festival immediately follows until 3:00 pm, located adjacent to the parade route at 340 Jordan and on Apple Avenue.

    The Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival is made possible thanks to our generous business sponsors who provide financial support, donors who provide in-kind or discounted services and media partners who promote the event.     The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
