City opens Pamela DeLay’s Look Up exhibit: Oct. 22 public reception also planned 

SEDONA, Ariz. – The city invites the public to come visit a new exhibit of spectacular skyscapes by artist Pamela DeLay now on view in the City Council Chambers. The community is also invited to an artist reception on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, 4 – 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

This new pastel, acrylic, and oil exhibit entitled, “Look Up,” created by Pamela DeLay will be on display through Monday, Jan. 11, 2027. The reception includes special musical guest Solomon Morris playing smooth, acoustic jazz.

DeLay’s move to Arizona and the impact the sky has on the way she interprets her relationship to the environment, is what inspired her skyscape exploration. Her gift for painting skyscapes comes from her fascination with cloud shapes and their relationship to both sky and land. Through the ages, clouds have symbolically represented a bridge between earth and heaven, emotional transitions, and transience.

The exhibit’s featured paintings are DeLay’s recent work, which focuses on asking viewers to take a closer and perhaps new look at the sky, noticing the changing cloud shapes and light during sunset and sunrise. “By addressing my own human role through my art, I wanted to visually emphasize the fragile, changing nature of clouds, skies and land, and why it is so important for us to pay attention to these moments,” states DeLay.

“I had the pleasure of meeting Pam at a local art gathering in a private home. I was immediately drawn to Pam’s skyscapes and knew I wanted to invite her to exhibit at the city. I think the public will be inspired by this beautiful, serene exhibition,” states Nancy Lattanzi, Arts & Culture Specia

DeLay has earned many awards in Sedona, throughout Arizona, regionally, and nationally. Her exhibitions include: the New Mexico National Pastel Association Exhibition in Santa Fe, the Phippen Museum in Prescott, the Millicent Rogers Museum International Pastel Show in Taos, Sedona Art Center and the Colorado National Pastel Show. Her work is in both private and corporate collections throughout the United States.

DeLay is donating all proceeds from the exhibit to the Sedona Women Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships for up to $3500 per year to Verde Valley women whose education has been interrupted. To qualify the women must have been accepted into an accredited academic or vocational institution and demonstrate financial need.  DeLay feels a deep responsibility for paying forward to those women who need assistance with their education.
