Sedona, AZ — Did you know fall is one of the best times of year to plant in Sedona? Cooler air and warmth left over from summer give new plants ideal conditions for strong roots. A new video from Keep Sedona Beautiful and Arizona Water Company shows you how to make the most of the season.
In the first episode of The Ripple Effect Sedona, Master Gardener Graelyn Deslauriers and Kalli Naylor of Arizona Water Company tour the KSB Eco-Hub Educational Garden. They share simple steps to get your landscape ready for cooler weather. You’ll learn why your plants need less water as the weather cools, and what to look for when you check your drip lines. They explain when to drain your irrigation before the first hard freeze, and how a deep watering now protects tree roots this winter. They also recommend native plants that do well here, from manzanita and desert willow to spring bulbs and wildflowers.
There’s also one easy change that could save up to 12,000 gallons of water this winter and lower your water bill. Watch the video to find out what it is.
Small changes in each of our yards add up to a big ripple effect for the Verde Valley’s water future.
