Floding and visitor access dominate this week’s developments. Here is a verified guide to which lodging properties, roads and attractions are operating.
- Flooding disrupts creekside lodging and travel
Nov. 1 evacuation orders covered Sedona zones 8, 9 and 10, including creekside streets, Rancho Sedona RV Park and the Villas at Poco Diablo. Sedona.biz has already published the evacuation notice; the next story is about guest displacement, property damage, cancellations and reopening conditions—not another announcement of the same order. The county’s evacuation alert remained posted when checked this morning;. County alert. coconino.az.gov
Travel disruption also continues: ADOT’s 8:26 a.m. Nov. 2 update lists SR 89A closed between Sedona and Kachina Village, mileposts 375–397, with no estimated reopening time. That affects canyon businesses, tours and arrivals from Flagstaff. Check individual routes before publishing travel instructions. Live ADOT alerts. AZ 511
- A second sewage spill changes the water-quality story
Heavy rain overwhelmed the Bear Wallow Pump Station on Nov. 1, releasing an estimated 2,700 gallons of untreated liquid sewage into Oak Creek near 135 Bear Wallow Lane, according to city information reported by the Red Rock News. Normal pump-station operations resumed around 11:15 a.m.; water sampling had not been conducted because high water made it unsafe. Sedona Red Rock News
Initial tests following the separate Oct. 25 spill had met recreational standards, city officials announced last week. Those results do not establish conditions after the new spill and flooding. Worth covering: fresh sampling, downstream notification and whether pump-station capacity or stormwater infiltration needs corrective work. Nov. 1 spill report. azfamily.com
- West Fork closure extends through winter
West Fork did not reopen when its previous October closure expired. The Forest Service’s operative order now closes Trail 108 and the specified drainage corridor through Feb. 28, 2027, unless rescinded. Although the webpage title says Feb. 27, the order’s implementation text specifies Feb. 28. Rockfall and flood-debris hazards are the stated reasons. Forest Service
This materially changes fall and winter itineraries. Worth covering: how guides and lodging staff are updating recommendations, with alternatives checked individually for storm damage and access. Official closure order.
- Uptown garage emerges as possible audit subject
Oct. 31 reporting identifies the Uptown Parking Garage as a leading candidate for a performance audit, but Council has not approved an auditing program. Residents’ concerns about concrete testing prompted a request for investigation; they are not established findings of a defect. Worth covering: obtain the testing records, city response, remaining opening requirements and implications for Uptown merchants. Read the report. Sedona Red Rock News
