As soon as I climbed above the rim of the Colorado Plateau I knew that I might have a real treat waiting for me as there was a lot of snow on the peaks. Winds aloft were pretty high giving me a ground track ranging in the high 30 to low 40 kt range so it took a while to get there. The direction of and velocity of…

By Kristin Elizabeth Regina Preserve Sedona(October 8, 2015)Dear Big Park City Council:It must be understood that being inside a National Monument affects all the land in the designated area, not just the federally owned land area. The federal designation, creating federal regulations and oversight require a form of contract between state and local governmental entities and the Secretary of the Interior or Department of Agriculture; that contract is to manage the land-use of the region for preservation. That means federal control and zoning, either directly, under the terms of the “management pact,” indirectly.Such “indirect” control is the real danger. In…

Also it is going out pretty early tonight as I want to be in the air shortly after sunrise and get up to Lockett Meadow with the morning sun on it. If all goes well and there are still leaves on the trees I should come back with some pretty good stuff.

A little different this year and although One is mentioned (she does reign supreme here) I used a photo of Derek at the Grand Canyon when we went up there to do some shooting of the clouds below the rim last December. I like the casual nature of the shot with Derek setting up his tripod on the very edge of the cliff … I kinda back away from the edge when I get near…
