Rimrock AZ (June 27, 2014) – UPDATE – On June 25, 2014, around 10:30 PM, 19-year-old Austin Hanson was arrested at a home in the 5600 block of Joann Drive, Rimrock. Sedona AZ (June 24, 2014) – On Friday, June 20, 2014, the City of Sedona Employee of Year award was presented to J. Andy Dickey, Assistant City Engineer/Assistant Public Works Director, as part of the employee recognition event held at City Hall. Andy started with the City of Sedona in October 2005 as an Associate Engineer. Within four years, Andy was promoted to Assistant City Engineer/ Assistant Public Works Director. His coworkers nominated him due to his dedication, hard work, and positive attitude.
Sedona AZ (June 26, 2014) – The Slide Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team has been heavily engaged in treatments efforts and now with Interim Request #2’s approval, hillslope treatments of seeding and straw mulch application using certified weed-free products has begun. Aerial seeding began mid-morning today and helimulching efforts begin tomorrow. The goal is to treat the areas which pose the most severe hydrologic response to values at risk before the onset of the monsoon season in an effort to slow down runoff and decrease the water repellency of the soil.
Cottonwood AZ (June 26, 2014) – Dear Property Owners and Guest, The Verde Valley Fire District is concerned with a potential increase of rising waters in Oak Creek and the Verde River do to the recent Slide Fire in Oak Creek Canyon. The Slide Fire recently burned more than 21,000 acres north of Sedona, AZ, primarily within the Oak Creek watershed. The post-fire watershed will most likely result in increased runoff from the affected areas during future rain storms.
