There are the concerns with runoff and such, but hopefully the monsoons will arrive with a gentle healing touch. Normally the monsoons bring very strong storm cells a few miles in diameter that wander around the plateau and valleys dropping intense deluges of rain along with lightning and all the good stuff. Verde Valley AZ (June 26, 2014) – UPDATE – Interstate 17 northbound has reopened in New River following an oil tanker rollover that closed the highway early this morning, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Both northbound lanes are open without restrictions after closing about 4 a.m. The extended closure was required to remove the tanker and for a hazardous materials crew to remove spilled oil from the road. Southbound lanes were unaffected and remained open.

Sedona AZ (June 24, 2014) – The Boynton Canyon Trail, temporarily closed this past weekend, has been reopened after personnel from Arizona Game and Fish trapped and removed a black bear that posed a threat to public safety. Since April there had been reports of a bear seen near the Boynton Canyon Trail north of the Enchantment resort property. Reports indicated that the bear was not afraid of people, was habituated to the presence of humans and posed a threat to safety.
