Clarkdale AZ (January 17, 2019) – The Town of Clarkdale Planning Commission is recommending an update to Chapter Nine of the Clarkdale Zoning Code related to Landscape Design Standards. The recommended changes strengthen the incorporation of sustainable landscaping concepts into landscape plans for commercial and multi-family projects and encourage preservation of existing landscaping. The update to the code includes amendments to the approved plant list to allow flexibility in landscape design.

Clarkdale AZ (January 16, 2019) – Step back in time to 1927 when the Clark Memorial Clubhouse was built as a gift to the United Verde Copper Company smelter workers and their families. William Andrews Clark, a multa-millionaire from Butte, MT, designed this beautiful community center in 1918…seven years before his death in 1925. His sons, Charles Walker and William Andrews, Jr. supervised the construction and publicly dedicated it to the employees.

Cottonwood AZ (January 15, 2019) – Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced 28-year-old JJ Austin Angel Amack McFarland, of Cottonwood, also known as Jay McFarland, was sentenced on Friday to 12 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. McFarland, appearing before Judge Michael R. Bluff in Yavapai Superior Court in Camp Verde, was also sentenced to a consecutive term of lifetime probation, and will be required to register as a sex offender.

Entitled “Maps In Our Lives”, the exhibit features almost all hand-drawn maps that include Sedona as part of their geography, yet focus on a variety of themes. Several are colorful; some are cartoonish; a few are Sedona tourism maps of the past; and others are maps that try to preserve historic routes that included Sedona before there was a “Sedona”.
