By Ted Grussing… I got this shot of a Roadrunner at the airport yesterday just behind my shade … he did his running thing, then flew and glided over about fifteen feet of ground before landing and he had everything deployed to take advantage of the ground effect which essentially is compressing the air beneath a bird, plane or whatever when in close proximity of the ground; generally a wing length or less and it enables the bird or plane to remain in the air longer than without the phenomenon.

Sedona AZ (January 19, 2019) – Mental Health Monday on January 28 will feature Chris Duarte speaking about the LGBTQ community and mental health and addiction issues, according to Barbara Litrell, President of the Mental Health Coalition Verde Valley. Sedona AZ (January 19, 2019) – The Verde Valley Sanctuary is seeking volunteers to help in providing support services to victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Demand has never been higher for the Sanctuary. Volunteers are needed at both our Outreach Center (where clients who don’t need shelter can get help) as well as our 28-bed shelter. Volunteer needs include: driving clients to appointments, childcare support, beautician services, help with job and housing searches, legal assistance and more.

Sedona AZ (January 17, 2019) – Yesterday evening [January 16, 2019] Sedona Fire District responded to a report of a vehicle swept away while attempting to cross Oak Creek at a low water crossing. One occupant was trapped inside the vehicle in the river downstream of the crossing. Water was up to the drivers window with water beginning to enter the vehicle.
