Sedona AZ (July 23, 2014) – Efforts by the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) team have proven successful and effective on areas of the Slide Fire and work is nearing completion. Even though the effects from rain events cannot be entirely prevented by Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) efforts they can mitigated by reducing water flow, debris runoff and erosion from rain event on lands downstream and down-slope from moderately to severely burned areas within the fire perimeter.

Verde Valley AZ (July 23, 2014) – On July 14, 2014, 62-year-old Mark Maki of Mesa, Arizona, was arrested for Aggravated Luring a Minor for Sexual Exploitation in Cottonwood. He was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center and remains in-custody on a $35,000 bond.

Minimal delays expected as roadway striping underway Sedona AZ (July 22, 2014) – Drivers can expect minimal delays as crews finish striping SR 89A through the switchbacks from Pine Flats Campground to the Vista Point Overlook. One lane will be closed during operations, with flaggers allowing alternating access for traffic. Striping is expected to be completed by Friday, and will be underway daily from 6 am to 6pm during operations.

The low intensity fires are reputed to mimic what occurred before man began meddling in things and are an effort to keep the forest in a healthier state.
