Here are some thoughts I’ve had lately about the effects of making comparisons on our inner peace… Making comparisons is all about noticing differences in order to pass judgment toward yourself or another. In comparison, someone always comes up short. Most comparisons occur in the areas of physical appearance (image) or accomplishments. They create either the drama of “better than” or “not good enough.”

Camp Verde AZ (July 17, 2014) – Camp Verde’s downtown art gallery is pleased to announce “Cinco Chicopella,” a new exhibit featuring the collaborative work of five local Camp Verde artists: Deborah Gallagher, Vada Lovato, Karen Sellers, Gaylene Allen, and Pat Sharp, to be on display from July 19th through September 12th. “Cinco Chicopella” brings together over 30 paintings, each one completed by at least two artists.
Sedona AZ (July 17, 2014) – On Friday, July 25th from 5-630 the Pumphouse Poetry and Prose Project will launch another literary show, this time featuring Flagstaff poet Maple Dewleaf. Sedona AZ (July 17, 2014) – The Sedona Fire District (SFD) has lifted fire restrictions that were in effect for all portions of the fire district. This will take effect immediately. Recent rains along with higher humidity, increased fuel moistures and the forecast for continuing monsoon activity have lowered, but not eliminated fire danger in the fire district. SFD encourages everyone to be responsible when working with or around fire.

By Ted Grussing … but still a fast mover … I took this shot this afternoon down at the ponds after taking care of some business in town. She is a Wood Duck and it appears that her wings have been clipped so she did not fly and in fact made no effort to extend her wings so I imagine it has been a while since she has flown. Not sure why anyone would clip a wild ducks wings, but hopefully they will be growing out before fall.
Sedona AZ (July 16, 2014) – The Sedona Heritage Museum presents Michael Peach in two special performances of his original show, “The Facts Keep Gettin’ in the Way of the Story” on Saturday, July 26 at 1:30 p.m. and again at 3:30 p.m. These shows are part of Sedona’s celebration of National Day of the Cowboy and will be held in Jordan Hall at Wayside Chapel in Uptown.
Sedona AZ (July 16, 2014) – As part of the ongoing Sedona Public Library in the Village Rotating Artist Series, Debra Baker is displaying her wearable artwork now through mid-September. Some of Baker’s wearable art will be available for purchase. A reception for the artist, titled “How I Felt” – Wearable Art by Debraa Baker, will l be held at SPL-V in Tequa Plaza on Wednesday, July 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The artist will be available during the reception to discuss her techniques.
