By Ted Grussing … and on the way home yesterday I diverted, digressed, descended and disassembled … and flew back to Sunset Crater. The colors, clouds and natural beauty of the terrain were spellbinding and here is what I saw … earths changes immortalized … at least for now and in hundreds of thousands of years another person may find this beauty, but altered by the forces of nature … new volcanoes … new forests … new deserts … but all flowing naturally from today … and then tomorrow is today and the future the present.
Sedona AZ (July 11, 2014) – During the week of July 7, Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) made modifications to the traffic signal and lanes at the State Route 89A and Rodeo Road intersection. These changes result in a new configuration of the southbound lanes on Rodeo Road. Specifically, the southbound Rodeo Road portion of the intersection now has two left turn lanes.

Sedona AZ (July 10, 2014) – Yesterday, July 9, 2014, at approximately 10:50 AM, two teen girls, ages 14 and 15, were walking west on Cortez Drive from the Giant Gas Station towards Slide Rock Road, Village of Oak Creek, when a man drove by and whistled at them. By Ted Grussing … we’ve had a few coyotes in the neighborhood lately and I took this shot yesterday afternoon of a coyote shaking himself out on the 2nd tee box (back yard). He was pretty energetic and you can see debris flying off of him … and I like the goofy look of his ears as they flopped around. A few minutes later he ambled off up the fairway near the arroyo in search of a good meal … or perhaps a nap as he ponders the mysteries of all that is.

Unfortunately, not all areas have received significant amounts to reduce the potential for wildfires. With continue rain events over the next couple weeks the moisture in live fuels will rise and the fire potential will lower. Motorists urged to be alert for changing weather conditions in Oak Creek Canyon during monsoon season Sedona AZ (July 8, 2014) – The Slide Fire has been extinguished, but the threat of flash floods, mudslides and rock slides is real in the Oak Creek Canyon area. Just in the last week, the Arizona Department of Transportation has been forced to temporarily close a portion of State Route 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff on three occasions due to flooding and debris flowing along the burn area near the highway.
