The existing three gateway signs located on State Route 179, SR 89A in Oak Creek Canyon, and SR 89A near the high school will be replaced as a component of one of the strategies identified in the Transportation Master Plan to enhance signage and help visitors navigate through the community.

Verde Valley AZ (June 13, 2019) – UPDATE – During an operation in Glendale Arizona, members of The Arizona Division of United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force were able to locate and apprehend Fugitive Seth Backus. Backus was arrested in the late morning hours of June 12th in the area of 61st avenue and Olive in Glendale and was taken into custody without incident. By Ted Grussing… when I took off this morning the smoke was pretty intense, so I pointed the nose up and to the north. I went above the smoke layers around 13,000’ and kept climbing. As far as I could see in any direction there was a layer of smoke and numerous burn sites were visible … at least 10,000 square miles were blanketed with the stuff.
