Sedona AZ (December 29, 2011) – On December 27, 2011, just before 4 P.M., Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers received a call from the mother of a 21-year-old hiker stranded on a ledge near Castle Rock. The hiker, identified as Mahdi Harrizi, was vacationing with family at the Red Agave Inn on Canyon Circle Drive in Sedona. They had traveled from their hometown in New York.
Sedona AZ (December 28, 2011) – On January 3, 2012 after 8 p.m., construction on Harmony-Windsong Phase 2 Drainage Project will proceed across SR 89A. A storm drain pipe will be installed within SR 89A in west Sedona between the Roadrunner Drive and Deer Trail Pass intersections. Construction will take place 24 hours per day and may last approximately 14 days. Weekend work will be minimized to the maximum extent possible. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
Sedona AZ (December 28, 2011) – The 42nd Annual Sedona St. Patrick’s Parade & Festival – an AZ Centennial Celebration, will be held on Saturday March 3, 2012. A parade begins at 10:30 a.m. along Jordan Road in Uptown Sedona. A Parade Festival immediately follows with live music and entertainment, free children’s activities, food booths and a beer garden. Cornville AZ (December 27, 2011) – On December 19, 2011, Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives from the Special Crimes Unit (SCU) served a search warrant at a residence in the 11400 of Rhodes Road, Cornville. The investigation resulted in the arrest of 21-year-old Paul Cole for several charges including Burglary, Criminal Damage, Theft, Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Use of Marijuana, and Possession of a Narcotic Drug. The investigation by field deputies linked Cole to a commercial burglary that occurred earlier this year in the 11200 block of Circle Drive, Cornville.

Flagstaff AZ (December 27, 2011) – Flagstaff Area National Monuments has received permission to start pile burning at Sunset Crater Volcano this morning and will continue throughout the afternoon as favorable weather conditions continue. The debris piles are located behind the housing area off a private dirt road. The piles were constructed during manual fuels reduction projects in preparation for future prescribed burns. They consist of small tree branches, twigs, and needles removed during preparation of prescribed fire control lines. Pile burning is a necessary preparation for prescribed burning.
