By Ted Grussing There is something special about rivers and the sculpting of the earth they do … this is an aerial of the Little Colorado River near Holbrook, Arizona that I shot last week. The chocolatey color is the river flow which contains a lot of mud and downstream fifty or so miles it goes over Grand Falls and rather than the straight water mists characteristic of waterfalls, you get dust clouds coming up … wet ones perhaps we could call it mud mist? Oh well …

Information & Perspective by Warren Woodward(June 21, 2015) Last April I made another Public Records Request of the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC). I asked for all “smart” meter related emails and documents from January 1st, 2015 to the date of my request, April 28th. Since the lawless and scandal-ridden ACC has so much to hide, what I received last Friday was mostly redacted. However, there were a few noteworthy unredacted email exchanges. Below is one such exchange. This email exchange is between employees of the ACC Utility Division’s so-called “Consumer Services” section. Mike Buck works there, and Connie Walczak is…

The Sight Still Burns In My Soul By Barbara Mayer Today please allow a very personal sharing. I was just looking forward to eighth grade graduation when a friend came to my home in Cicero, Illinois saying something was happening a few blocks away. We rode our bikes together to a scene which has never stopped burning in my soul. A very large crowd of angry, shouting people had gathered in front of an apartment house. Some men with axes had broken into a second floor unit and shattered the front windows — only to allow them to throw pieces…
Sedona AZ (June 20, 2015) – The Oak Creek Canyon area is recovering well after the 2014 Slide Fire, but it’s not completely “back to normal.” After the fire, the Forest Service’s Burn Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team treated over 2,100 acres with aerial mulching and seeding to accelerate regrowth of vegetation on burned slopes, slow down erosion and reduce sediment flow into Oak Creek. The team has been monitoring recovery and recently completed their assessment. Overall, the conditions have improved. Due to the treatments, favorable rainfall and good watershed recovery, the risk of erosion, runoff, flooding, debris flows, and…
