Sedona AZ (April 18, 2018) – Stage 1 campfire and smoking restrictions will be implemented on most of the Red Rock Ranger District of the Coconino National Forest starting on Friday (April 20) at 8 a.m.The restrictions apply only to specific areas of the Red Rock Ranger District, including National Forest land in the Verde Valley on the east side of the Verde River, Oak Creek Canyon, lower Sycamore Canyon, lower West Clear Creek, Fossil Creek and Bullpen. The area southeast of Interstate 17, east of Forest Road 618, and north of Forest Road 214 is not included in the restriction area.

Sedona AZ (April 17, 2018) – After consulting with local County Emergency Managers and District Rangers, it has been determined that effective Friday, April 20th, 2018 at 8:00 a.m. Sedona Fire District (SFD) is implementing fire restrictions.These restrictions prohibit all open fires, fire pits and campfires (except those noted below). During the period of fire restrictions, no burn permits will be issued and existing burn permits are hereby suspended. Fireworks and other pyrotechnic displays are prohibited, unless permitted by the Fire Marshal.

Cottonwood AZ (April 16, 2018) – April 16 at approximately 9:50 am the Verde Valley Fire District responded to Thousand Trails and Forest Service 147A for a report of a camper on fire.  Crews arrived on scene to discover the mid-size camper 50% engulfed and threatening surrounding wildland. By Ted Grussing… a beautiful Cardinal came for a visit over the weekend whilst One and I were out on the deck enjoying a blustery Spring day. He was trying to call a mate in I think and spent several minutes going from branch to branch while continuing his plea for a mate to join him. I had the Canon 1DX with the “new” 100/400 lens and got 100 plus shots in a relatively short time and most of them were excellent shots, but still the cull has to occur and get it down to a half dozen or so…
