Innovation creates savings in tire repair for ADOT maintenance vehicles Phoenix AZ (August 19, 2021) – As the Arizona Department of Transportation fosters an environment of continuous improvement and waste reduction, one idea has created savings in trips to equipment shops and the cost of tire repairs: the pokey picker upper. What is a “pokey picker upper?” Simply put, it’s a magnet that is attached to the front of an ADOT maintenance truck that hovers just above the ground collecting metal pieces and shards along the highway shoulders.

Clarkdale AZ (August 17, 2021) – Three days before its state-of-the-art labs filled with students launching into “hero,” livable-wage careers, Yavapai College and community partners celebrated the completion and grand opening of the Verde Valley Skilled Trades Center.The Aug. 13 event at the YC Verde Valley Campus in Clarkdale featured celebratory remarks from college and civic leaders, tours of the 10,000 square-foot center and a luncheon. Capping the event was a ribbon-cutting captured for posterity by a drone.
Sedona AZ (August 17, 2021) – Barring any major rainfall, between 7 p.m. – 6 a.m. the week of Aug. 23, 2021, crews will be out on State Route (SR) 89A for three consecutive nights to apply green paint in bike lanes at dedicated right turn lanes to help with bike safety. Small portions of the right travel lanes, right turning lanes and bike lanes will be temporarily closed one at a time while green pavement markings are applied. The left travel lanes will remain open.

Usually when I send the photos out you only see the closeups of the critters we hunt and shoot, so I want to share the overall beauty of our hunting grounds.
