Sedona AZ (September 10, 2014) – Sedona Watercolor Artist, Mary Helsaple was accepted into ARTLINK Phoenix, 16th Annual Juried Exhibition at The Icehouse venue in downtown Phoenix Art District till the end of September. This is a statewide, annual contemporary art exhibition of cutting-edge images from nearly 100 entries. Helsaple’s 3D Sculptural Watercolor, Raven Mad and Discovering the Edge are among the top 26 images now on exhibit. This year’s jurors included Phoenix Art Museum Director, Jim Ballinger; Phoenix artist, Randy Slack; and avid art supporter, former gallery director, and downtown community advocate, Louise Roman.

By Ted Grussing … and here is green … a green heron that is. Normally these small creatures (relatively so) are very skittish and it is hard to get decent shots of them. I did get some good ones of him in flight too, but they do not show the facial features as well as this shot. I took the photo at Bubbling Ponds Hatchery in Page Springs. Amazing to watch these little ones take a perch on a dock or sometimes a thin wire stretched over the ponds and then make their strike at small fish in the ponds.
5 Charities, 4 Chefs, 3 Judges, 2 Eliminations, 1 Winner Sedona AZ (September 9, 2014) – Canned Sedona is a cooking competition based on the show “Chopped” as seen on the Food Network. Heidi Benson, owner of Priya Pilates and Tracey Shadley, owner of Organize A to Z are big fans of the show and wondered how they could put on an event that was similar to the show but also of benefit to the community.
