By Ted Grussing… and all blessings, joys and love of the season; it is that time of year when many of us strive to remember the joys of life and focus on the things that bind us together as we continue our journey through space on the only home that mankind has ever known. There are more than enough things that try to divide us, but the lesson of this season is that it is good to put those things aside and concentrate on the beauty of family and friendship … we can always disagree, for a little while let’s…

By Virginia Volkman, DirectorSedona AZ (December 20, 2018) – The calendar tells us that winter is here, but recently when I walked through the City of Sedona’s Sunset Park it felt less like winter and more like autumn. The trees still have yellow leaves, and the walking path was the perfect setting to read “In the Middle of Fall,” by Kevin Henkes, displayed on 18 panels along the path.

By Ted Grussing… at least that is what I thought this Great Blue Heron was telling us when he came in and landing on a hazard buoy in Lake Pleasant, this afternoon. Shot time was 4:59P and sunset at 5:19P and we were still about fifteen minutes out from the ramp and dock … and the lighting was absolutely perfect. That is a seagull behind the heron. Not sure what the distance was on this shot, but we did get within 8’ of him. Also great shots of the Pelican, Western Grebe, and gulls.

By Dr. Marta Adelsman Life Coach in Communication and Consciousness www.DrMartaCoach.com(December 19, 2018)Ben loved his Uncle Jim.Ben didn’t know of any other family as diverse as his when it came to religion and politics. Yet Uncle Jim had a way of calming the heated conversations that occurred in the family each year during holiday activities. In discussions that would derail most family interactions, Ben marveled at how his uncle engaged in them with ease. He would listen to others’ opinions (even Aunt Lila’s), and even though those opinions were miles apart from his own, he would often say three words: “Tell…

Probably about 50% of them! That absence is not an excuse to ignore the real damage to our planet from the increased temperatures. It does though say we must know what we’re doing and have complete and accurate data before…

By Ted Grussing… one of the big deals this time of year is burning slash piles in the forest. Typically the piles are wet and produce an inordinate amount of smoke compared to piles that are dry. There are studies done by the USFS showing that if the piles are covered with plastic for a period of time they tend to burn hot and clean. There are also comments that it is too much work, that the deer and elk eat the plastic and other such comments, so the easy way is taken and since human health is not factored…
