By Ted Grussing… the active runway at sunset … this beautiful Cessna Citation 550 taxied in front of the red rocks just as they were going max color, lined up, applied power and disappeared into the early evening skies. Bill had stopped to say hi as this ship taxied by my “hangar” for Mariah and told me a little about the gentleman who operates the aircraft. He operates several jets and runs a charter air service … he loves flying.

Cottonwood AZ (October 9, 2015) – Shake a leg (or two) at the first of the fall Cottonwood Contra Dances, Saturday October 17th.  Michael Barraclough will call the dances to the tunes of Just Desserts, Flagstaff’s open band. With a strong core of fiddles, whistles, guitars, keyboards and a dulcimer, the open band has a different makeup for each dance.  The band brings the dancers a range of common contra dance tunes from many genres – old time, celtic, American fiddle tunes, and more. 

Cottonwood AZ (October 9, 2015) – On Wednesday October 7th approximately 3:40pm Verde Valley Fire District responded to a motor vehicle accident on 89A near Kelli Lane.  Upon arrival crews found two vehicles involved in a T-Boned collision.  After the crews assessed the patients they discovered one patient with life threatening injuries and needing to be extricated.  Once extricated and stabilized by the crew she was transported to Flagstaff Medical Center by Guardian Medical Helicopter.  There was another patient transport by ambulance to Verde Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.  89A was closed for approximately 2 hours by DPS, Cottonwood PD, and YCSO…

Also it is going out pretty early tonight as I want to be in the air shortly after sunrise and get up to Lockett Meadow with the morning sun on it. If all goes well and there are still leaves on the trees I should come back with some pretty good stuff.

Sedona AZ (October 8, 2015) – Sedona Recycles is celebrating 25 years of serving the Verde Valley. The community recycling center is launching a 90 Gifts in 90 Days Fundraiser to help offset rising operating costs. The center is non-profit and relies on the support of its patrons to provide free recycling to the public.
