By Ted Grussing… a fun and busy day and I’m back to learning Adobe Premier Pro … like Photoshop, until you learn it, it is complex and intimidating. I did have my first tiny success tonight and produced my first video from some GoPro clips I took on a flight last year. The video starts just as I begin to accelerate for takeoff on Runway 21 at Sedona and ends with a landing on Runway 3 around sunset. The transitions need improvement and the audio transition could be better, but the overall quality is far superior to anything I produced…

By Ted Grussing… when I was landing this morning I grabbed the camera and did some point and shoot whilst I turned into a short final for runway 3 at Sedona … there’s the number, confirmed, I have the right runway. About a 6 kt quartering tail wind and a nice landing about two thirds of the way down the runway … sometimes I get it so I can roll up to my shade without re-starting the engine.

Clarkdale AZ (July 18, 2016) – Birds are some of the most conspicuous migratory animals in nature. For many people, the word “migration” immediately conjures the image of geese flying in a “V” formation through the sky. Yet this one example can’t encapsulate the magnitude, beauty and diversity of bird migrations. Individual species differ drastically in many aspects of migration including how far they travel, which route they choose, and their general migration strategy. Bird migration evolved as a way for birds to exploit resources that are seasonally abundant and to go elsewhere when the resources become scarce or when…

By Ted Grussing… my favorite views are to the north because of the wildly beautiful alien features of the Colorado Plateau and environs … there has been way too much smoke to permit anything resembling beauty lately, but today there was an opening directly to the north of the peaks where it wasn’t too bad, so I spent some time this morning shooting the peaks mostly from the south … maybe a mile and at 12,800’. Still had morning sun so the lighting was also pretty good.
