By Ted Grussing… every evening a leaf that protrudes from one of the Heavenly Bamboo bushes in the backyard is illuminated by the setting sun and it blazes in glory before the sun leaves it to once again return to its place as just one of many leaves on the bush … but for those few moments it was special like none other on the bush … it is was a star. Perhaps our own lives are a wee bit like that, at least it is nice to think so.

Sedona AZ (September 6, 2016) – The idea of discussing politics with someone other than those closest to you who believe as you do is anathema to many. The risk of losing friendships, estrangement from family members or work colleagues reinforces for many the secrecy of the ballot and any discussions about it. The result oftentimes is that people are not aware of what’s on the ballot or what it means.
Information & Perspective by Warren Woodward(September 6, 2016)Recently I was reading the APS rate case docket at the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) and I came across a submission by retired APS employee Cynthia Butler.Cynthia echoes the concerns that many, many retirees have expressed in the docket. Nobody’s pensions or Social Security have increased but APS wants more money. Many retirees are already having trouble meeting their budgets. An increase to APS is something they simply cannot afford. What makes Cynthia’s docket submission different, however, is her perspective as a former APS employee who has seen and experienced firsthand the waste at…
By Ted Grussing… its Labor Day weekend and what better way to spend it than working on stuff you love … and that is exactly what I have been doing. First project on Friday was to select the images for the 2017 TaO calendar, process the images and upload the calendar to the printer … finished and initial order for calendars placed. The calendar is 11” x 17” and the image is 8.5” x 11” full bleed, it is printed on 100lb glossy stock and having used this printer for the last eight years, I know that the quality is…

Even the reclusive Emily Dickinson, who didn’t leave her home after age thirty, published several poems in her lifetime and sent others to a leading scholar. In one of her nearly 1800 poems, she said that sharing is…

Information & Perspective by Warren Woodward (September 3, 2016)Over the last several years I have received many calls and emails from APS customers stymied by APS when trying to refuse an APS “smart” meter. My advice to them is always the same: Don’t take no for an answer and keep calling until you get what you want. It’s an exercise in persistence. APS will say all kinds of lies and nonsense like “We don’t have any more analog meters.” Sometimes they will even tell you a digital meter is an analog one. Read more→
By Ted Grussing… there is still beauty and a history of geologic occurrences and the people and times when wealth was extracted from the earth. I got kind of a late start this morning so decided to go shoot formations (from the air) in the local area. Eventually I made it down to Jerome and decided to begin shooting the closed mining areas because everything in the history of the earth led to rich deposits of copper, gold and silver being deposited there … and men discovered these deposits and for decades the richest copper deposits ever found were worked…
