By Henry Twombly, Sedona Resident(October 19, 2017)The SFD is mounting a full-court-press, fearmongering campaign to convince us residents to pass their $17.9m bond. I have already received two Safer Sedona fliers, exhorting me to do the right thing. (Not to mention Chief Kazian’s articles in SRRN over the past two months.) By Ted Grussing… at least that is what this Cormorant was doing to keep his head out of the massive spray he created when he landed on Watson Lake this afternoon. It was a beautiful afternoon on the lake and the sunset was equally beautiful; I was busy getting the boat and trailer ready for transport so I didn’t get any shots of it, but my friend did. Just something special about being on water when it is quiet and then to have the surface ripped apart by a landing waterfowl …. And then within minutes the serenity and peace…

By Ted GrussingStar Trek and such … going through the photos from last Friday I found a series of Caspian Terns that I got at the shallow end of Watson Lake (SW?) The lighting was such that coupled with the late light on shore vegetation, they gave the appearance of being starships and who is to say that they aren’t … we don’t see them all the time :+) A real treat!
