Sedona AZ (June 1, 2018) – Now through the end of August, the beautiful oil paintings created by Harriet McGinnis are on display at Sedona City Hall. The public is invited to meet McGinnis at  her reception Thursday, June 28 from 4-6 p.m.  “I always wanted to learn how to draw and paint,” says McInnis, recalling her first art project, a Thanksgiving turkey poster created for third grade class. Enrolled as a Fine Arts major at Syracuse University, she took the basic college requirements her first two years with special courses in Art History and Graphic Arts.

Sedona AZ (June 1, 2018) – At 11:35 a.m. Sedona Fire District was dispatched to the Stormaster Storage Units located at 2300 Shelby Dr. for a storage unit on fire. Upon arrival crews discovered that the fire had been extinguished by the buildings fire sprinkler system. “When we arrived on scene, there was some residual smoke but the fire had been extinguished,” said Captain Ralph Kurtz, “It worked. The sprinkler system performed exactly like it should have and saved not only the entire building but most of the belongings inside the storage unit itself.”

Sedona AZ (June 1, 2018) – The Coconino National Forest’s Red Rock Ranger District is planning to add non-motorized Forest Service system trails through the Red Rock Trails Enhancement Project, according to a decision signed by the district ranger Thursday.Between 2013 and 2016, forest managers in the Red Rock Ranger District identified a need to provide more non-motorized trails, increase the safety of trail users, and improve watershed health by reducing erosion. The public input during the March to April comment period was incorporated into the making of this decision.

Clarkdale AZ (June 1, 2018) – The final step in the restoration of the Clarkdale Town Park begins with the installation of what will be approximately 1 ½ acres of sod.  While the fencing around the Town Park, which has been in place since February 28th, will need to stay in place for the next four weeks to allow the grass to establish, the project will be substantially complete once the sod is fully installed.  Delivery of the sod for the Park began on Wednesday evening, May 30th, and installation will begin on Thursday, May 31st.

Sedona AZ (May 31, 2018) – On May 27, 2018, just after 5 pm, deputies were dispatched to Big Park School in the Village of Oak Creek, regarding a vandalism in progress. The reporting party indicated several juveniles were hitting the playground equipment with an axe. Deputies arrived and witnessed one of the suspects striking one of the slides with the axe. He was ordered to drop and axe and immediately complied. A total of 6 juveniles were detained.

Sedona AZ (May 31, 2018) – Due to decreasing fuel moisture and the weather outlook, the Sedona Fire District (SFD) Fire Marshal has extended Stage III fire restrictions to the cover the entire Sedona Fire District regardless whether those areas are within Yavapai or Coconino Counties.
