Phoenix AZ (March 22, 2014) – Annual trapping and testing of endangered California condors from the Arizona-Utah population this season revealed a substantial decrease in the percentage of birds with toxic blood-lead levels, the lowest in nearly a decade. “The ups and downs of lead poisoning over the years demonstrate that any single season does not make a trend, but our test results are encouraging,” said Eddie Feltes, field manager for The Peregrine Fund’s condor project. “If this ends up being the beginning of a trend, we hope it will continue.”

Sedona AZ (March 20, 2014) – At approximately 4:30 pm , Tuesday March 18, 2014, Sedona Fire District (SFD) emergency crews were called to Boynton Pass Road in West Sedona for a reported vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews found a Jeep from Safari Jeep Tours parked on the roadway with fire and smoke coming from the vehicle’s engine compartment. The driver and his passengers had safely evacuated the vehicle.
