Flagstaff AZ (April 1, 2014) – FINAL UPDATE – The Secret Fire, reported at 9:00 a.m. on March 29, 2014, is located above the rim near Secret Mountain within the Secret Mountain Wilderness approximately 20 miles southwest of Flagstaff. The fire remains at 6 acres in size and is 75% contained. Monday firefighters mopped up one and a half chains in around the fire (each chain equals 66 ft). Firefighters accomplished progress despite winds. Today the Mesa Hotshots from the Tonto National Forest and local fire personnel will continue mopping up and monitoring the perimeter for any spots.
Flagstaff AZ (April 1, 2014) – FINAL UPDATE – Firefighters made tremendous progress yesterday on the Boulder Fire, reported Saturday March 30 at 1:30 p.m. The fire is located northeast of Flagstaff on Mt. Elden. Cause is under investigation. The fire remains at 1 ½ acres. On Monday, firefighters secured the fire line and mopped up. All resources were off of the fire beginning Monday evening. The fire reported no injuries. The bone piling of partially burned logs will put up some residual smoke. Today fire personnel will assess and monitor the fire.

Clarkdale AZ (March 28, 2014) – It took a wellspring of personal resolve and a boost from the Verde Valley community for Cottonwood resident Rebecca “Jade” McCullough to keep her academic career on track. Serious health challenges and the rigors of living as a twenty-something single mother put McCullough’s quest for higher education and a better life on the back burner. Fortunately, providence intervened in the form of The Sedona Women organization. The community support group granted McCullough the Helen Wolfe Scholarship for women who have experienced a lapse in education.
