logo_humanesocietySedona AZ (April 18, 2014) – The Humane Society of Sedona believes all the animals will be placed with a loving family soon. However the shelter currently has many wonderful cats that have been in residence for 200+ days and we are actively seeking permanent homes for these lovely animals.

Please take a look and consider one of these cats as your next new furry, family member. Some of these kitties are currently in foster homes, at PetSmart or the shelter, so please call the Humane Society to confirm the location of the kitty you want to adopt at 928.282.4679.

Radar – 2 years old Tabby, Neutered Male, PetSmart
I’m affectionate, playful, friendly, gentle, and sometimes a bit shy. I’ve lived with other cats, older children and dogs. Do you have a lap for me to sit on?

Misty – 1 year old Tabby, Spayed Female, PetSmart
I’m affectionate, playful, social, and full of energy. I’ve lived with other cats and dogs, I’m very loving and I like to be held!

Maybelle – 1 year old Tabby, Spayed Female, in Foster
I am a very affectionate kitty! I love to play with toys and be petted (although I’m not into belly rubs). And I also love a little treat once in a while!

Missy – 2 years old (Wise Woman adoption rate) Tabby, Spayed Female, in Foster
My name is Missy, and I’m sweet tabby love bug. I am a little shy sometimes, and gentle. I would prefer a calm family, and I have never been around children. I prefer wet food, a scratching post, and a warm lap where I can snuggle.

    Watch me play here. http://youtu.be/9tuuEiXDVn8

Gato – 8 ½ year old DSH, Spayed Female, declawed, at shelter
Gato is very affectionate even though she is a little shy at first with strangers but once she knows you, loves to be held by you. In the past Gato has lived with children of all ages, dogs and other cats.

Black Ice – 9 month old DSH, neutered male, in Foster
Black Ice is still very much a kitten at heart even though he is quickly approaching his first birthday. You will enjoy playing, laughing, rubbing and rolling with Black Ice and when he is tired from all the fun, he will curl up in your lap for a nap.

Little Boy – 8 months old, DLH, neutered male, in Foster
Little Boy really does need that new forever home. When he first came to the shelter he was very frightened and has begun to flourish under foster care. He likes to be pet and is still a little hesitant to be picked up but with the right person we know he will shine. Little Boy also loves water and playing with the hose.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
