Sedona AZ (April 15, 2014) – The Midgley Bridge Trailhead and parking area will be temporarily closed for construction activity from Monday, April 21st – Friday, May 2nd. A fenced enclosure will prohibit public access from 89A to the parking area in an effort to reduce risk and exposure to construction activities. There will be no access to Wilson Canyon and Wilson Mountain Trails from Midgley Bridge.

Flagstaff AZ (April 15, 2014) – The spring season for collecting live trees, known as wildings, from National Forest lands, began Friday, April 11th on the Coconino National Forest. Permits will be offered until Friday, May 9th and are valid for plant collection through Sunday, May 11th. Cornville AZ (April 14, 2014) – Just after 1:30 PM yesterday, April 13, 2014, deputies were called to the 11900 block of E Mingus View Drive in Cornville regarding a domestic violence incident. Deputies were told that the live-in girlfriend of 35-year-old Joshua Myers and her daughter had been held hostage at gunpoint for 2 hours following an argument. Myers eventually released them, threatened suicide and indicated he would “have a shootout” with law enforcement if called to the home. Once released with her daughter, Myers’ girlfriend contacted YCSO to report the incident.

Verde Valley AZ (April 11, 2014) – YCSO deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers have been extremely busy over the last few weeks helping lost and sometimes injured hikers out of various predicaments. Many involved in these rescues had already increased the risk of problems because they were hiking alone, did not carry adequate supplies, were not familiar with trail locations and topography, and began hiking just before dark.
