Verde Valley AZ (August 14, 2015) – A free, unique field trip to learn about and visit area springs is being offered by the Verde River Basin Partnership (Partnership) on Wednesday, August 19th at 10:30 a.m. in Prescott.Anyone wishing to join can meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Yavapai County Administrative Building, in Board Chambers, 1015 Fair Street for a brief presentation. From there, participants will carpool or caravan to different sites with expert Abe Springer, PhD, Professor of Hydrogeology at Northern Arizona University.

By Ted Grussing… to the sea … it is like a magnet pulling on me and drawing me back to thoughts of hours and days we have spent at sea and cove hopping at Santa Catalina Island. This was before I discovered the beauty of the sky and began spending as many as 250 hours a year plying the unseen pathways of the sky. I could easily live back near the beach … at least I get to visit it frequently, both southern and northern California coasts.
Cornville AZ (August 14, 2015) – UPDATE – The victim in the August 12 Cornville accident has been identified as 46-year-old Sandra Silva from Cornville – Sandra recently moved to a community accessed by Lee Pasture Road, a single unmarked dirt road that connected the community to Page Springs Road. Sandra’s vehicle was travelling west on Lee Pasture Road when it drifted to the far left side of the roadway, almost leaving the road. It appeared that Sandra, the single occupant, overcorrected and the vehicle began to leave the north side of the roadway. The vehicle then collided with a bar-ditch depression…

During this journey the water moves fast and slow, continuously and in slugs, and through pumps to reach the Wastewater Plant located five miles outside of the City. There are things that should never start that journey because they have the potential to cause problems within the sewer system.

McGuireville AZ (August 13, 2015) – On August 11, 2015, deputies arrived at a residence in the 2100 block of Beaver Creek Road, McGuireville, regarding a reported stabbing. 22-year-old Alan Sigarto had fled the scene and was identified by 2 victims as the suspect. The male victim, 41, had a significant stab wound above his right knee across the thigh. The injury was not life threatening and he was treated by EMS personnel at the scene prior to self-admitting at a local hospital. The female victim, 42, is the suspect’s mother who lives with the male victim and had been threatened…
By Ted GrussingSaturday Sus and I headed down to Pescadero State Beach, turned inland to do a hike in the wildlife preserve … my intent was to get some good photos of Herons and shorebirds in the wetlands area. We hiked about a mile into the park and along the estuaries and marshlands … it was a very nice trek and the scenery was beautiful but there was a near absolute dearth of wildlife. In total we saw one bird and two insects. The bird was (and I presume still is) a Kingfisher and about 500 feet was as close…

More often than not the sun is obscured and as much as I enjoy the closed in feeling of fog or a low lying marine layer it really doesn’t make for very dynamic photographs.
