Flagstaff AZ (July 9, 2015) – A lightning-caused fire approximately three miles south of Munds Park is being managed for resource benefits as it consumes dead logs, branches, and accumulated leaves and pine needles. The Fox fire is currently only four acres and burning at a low to moderate intensity, producing minimal smoke. However, it will be managed by the Forest Service, allowing the fire to fulfill its natural role in the ecosystem and could burn upwards of just over 1,000 acres throughout the next week.
Sedona AZ (July 9, 2015) – The City of Sedona is proud to be featuring the colorful, textured art work created by painter Jan Sitts. Currently on display in the Council Chambers through October 1st, her large mixed media paintings have delighted art lovers and collectors for over thirty years. Jan is a layerist, as her pieces are layered, integrating paper, plaster, sand and other materials.

Verde Valley AZ (July 7, 2015) – The Center for the Future of Arizona and the Morrison Institute for Public Policy at Arizona State University have committed to supporting the Verde Valley Forum for Public Affairs 2016 forum, “ Cooperatively Evaluating and Improving Post-Secondary Educational Opportunities in the Verde Valley and Sedona.” The Forum will be held at the Cliff Castle Conference Center April 3-6.
Sedona AZ (July 7, 2015) – On Friday, June 26, 2015, the City of Sedona Employee of Year award was presented to Patty Lewis, Community Development Services Representative, as part of the employee recognition event held at City Hall. Camp Verde AZ (July 7, 2015) UPDATE – YCSO deputies have provided additional information regarding the actions of the victim’s 39-year-old uncle during this incident. As the uncle and his nephew were attempting to re-cross the river to return to their vehicle, the uncle told deputies he stepped off a ledge into the water estimated at 7 feet deep. His nephew was holding his arm at the time and both became submerged. His nephew began to panic and pull on his face and neck. Lake Montezuma AZ (July 6, 2015) – On July 2, 2015, just after 1AM, YCSO deputies were dispatched to the 4300 block of Montezuma Way, in Lake Montezuma, regarding 2 vehicle burglaries that just occurred at the location. When one of the victims confronted a female suspect inside her parked vehicle the suspect exited and walked away. Both vehicles had been unlocked and there was evidence of ransacking in the interior of one of the vehicles.
