… looking for food … the constant driving force for all creatures on the planet and for all but man it is the individual responsibility of each creature to find his own food … don’t feel like working for it? No problem, its fate is determined and so they hunt, day in and day out … no vacations to Europe, Hawaii or across the country, just the daily duty to provide its own shelter and food … not a bad ethic, but glad that we also have found that some of our population can provide food and others provide other items or services which allows us to spend time improving our life as we trade our services or knowledge for that which others produce … and we put a value on what each of us does with some more valuable than others and we recognize this value through a common store of value which we call money. The Coopers Hawk doesn’t have a wallet anyhow, so he has to hunt and kill to get his sustenance.
I took this shot this afternoon; a friend had stopped over for a visit and saw the hawk in a tree outside … I grabbed my new Canon 5DS R and headed out. I had the 70-200 on the body with a 1.4 extender. Lighting was less than optimal, but was still able to get a pretty good shot of him. Thank you Leo!
Kind of a different day, early morning appointment in Cottonwood, a nice coffee on the way home and about three hours working on the opal trying to get a feel for the best results … this is when what you do with a stone dictates everything that follows. Still some removal of potch on the bottom to go before final shape and which side is up is determined. Not a time to begin the shaping of the perimeter of the stone, that will follow the decision which side is up. Another run to Cottonwood late afternoon and a stop for dinner on the way home. Talked shop with a friend tonight and now it is time for a wrap of the day. Hope you had a great one also.

In addition to sales of photographs already taken Ted does special shoots for patrons on request and also does air-to-air photography for those who want photographs of their airplanes in flight. All special photographic sessions are billed on an hourly basis.
Ted also does one-on-one workshops for those interested in learning the techniques he uses. By special arrangement Ted will do one-on-one aerial photography workshops which will include actual photo sessions in the air.
