logo_rubyroad3Camp Verde AZ (July 7, 2015) – For those who have ever dreamed of having our own small business; Ruby Road, the home of the “mini-entrepreneur”, offers a simple and economical option for local, small business owners to sell their treasures.

Studies have shown that resale businesses, which include both thrift shops and consignment stores, represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the retail industry.  According to another recent study, about 16-18 percent of Americans will shop at a thrift and consignment resale shops during a given year, which is competitive with conventional retail stores.

Over the past few years, Ruby Road has expanded from 5000 to over 8000 square feet of retail space.  The store attracts dealers and customers from many miles away.  One of their loyal dealers Karen, lives in Goodyear, AZ.  That is 200 miles round trip from Camp Verde!  With all of the resale shops in Phoenix and cities in between, she has chosen Ruby Road to be her marketplace.  Karen recognizes that there is consistent customer foot-traffic in the store, and she appreciates that the owner Pamela Bridgnell is so positive to work with.

    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
