Nine miles will become four-lane divided highway west of I-17Camp Verde AZ (March 2, 2017) – To enhance safety and improve traffic flow in a growing area of the Verde Valley, the Arizona Department of Transportation is set to begin upgrading nine miles of State Route 260 to four-lane divided highway between Camp Verde and Cottonwood west of Interstate 17.The $62 million project, scheduled to start Monday, March 6, also will create seven roundabout intersections at Thousand Trails Road, Coury Drive, Cherry Creek Road, Horseshoe Bend Drive, Wilshire Road and two locations that will accommodate future development.

The Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with Lee Likes Bikes, will offer full-day mountain bike skills clinics on three days at the Posse Grounds Bike Skills Park: Friday, March 31; Saturday, April 1; and Sunday, April 2.

Cowan does extensive pro-bono work, mainly in the areas of border and immigration policy development and representation of undocumented persons and refugees.

‘Sonoran Dogs’ Bluegrass Band Plays at OTCACottonwood AZ (March 1, 2017) – The Sonoran Dogs bluegrass band from Tucson, comes to Old Town Center for the Arts on Saturday, March 11th at 7:00 PM.Formed in 2011, The Sonoran Dogs have exploded upon the bluegrass scene. Prescott AZ (March 1, 2017) – A free conference, “Reentry and Recovery: A Second Chance for Life”, will be held at the Prescott Resort, 1500 State Rte. 69, on Thursday, March 23rd from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Returning to society from prison can be complicated for the individuals coming home and for their families. The conference will present success stories from people who have reentered society from prison as contributing citizens. Since 2012, the Yavapai Reentry Project has been offering volunteer Community Coaches for people returning from prison. To date over 180 individuals have been served by the project.

When hunting waterfowl and upland game I was on the go jumping them in fields, ponds and streams … I’m not a blind hunter. Anyhow I shot the Great Blue Heron at the ponds last week and I took the shot in Sycamore Canyon last month. Sycamore Creek runs below the picture and I’m standing somewhere in the parking area at the overlook and trailhead. Kinda fun…
Prescott AZ (February 28, 2017) – In December of 2015, Arizona Department of Public Safety Director Frank Milstead donated a six seater Cessna T210M aircraft to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) to use for inmate extraditions. This aircraft replaced YCSO’s older, but very reliable, Cessna 182 which has been in-service for many years. The Cessna 210 has the ability to fly farther distances for less cost than the price of commercial flights and has worked well to fill the needs of YCSO’s inmate transportation program.
