Sedona AZ (March 2, 2017) – For those with a bike, the passion to ride, and the desire to hone their skills, the city of Sedona is offering a chance to learn to ride like the best. The Parks and Recreation Department, in cooperation with Lee Likes Bikes, will offer full-day mountain bike skills clinics on three days at the Posse Grounds Bike Skills Park: Friday, March 31; Saturday, April 1; and Sunday, April 2.
Each clinic is unique to the individual riders and, depending on skill level, riders will master the fundamentals, then move on to more advanced skills with safety and fun as priorities. Participants will learn about:
- Position
- Braking
- Efficient pedaling
- Cornering
- Going up and down obstacles safely and efficiently
- Pumping bumps
- When ready: drops, hops and jumps
“This is a great opportunity for mountain bikers to improve their skills in just one day and we are excited to welcome Lee Likes Bikes back to Sedona,” said Elizabeth Ginsberg, recreation and aquatics supervisor.
The clinic will be taught by Kevin Stiffler, a coach from upstate New York with experience in BMX, mountain biking and downhill riding. Stiffler directed and helped create the Avid4 Adventure program at Valmont Bike Park in Boulder, Colo., successfully coaching youth athletes of all abilities on varied terrain.
Full-day clinics will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each day. Cost is $300 per person. There is no age requirement to register, but youths ages 7-13 must be accompanied by an adult. For children under the age of 7, the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department will call the parent to discuss the best options.
Class sizes are limited and the registration deadline is Thursday, March 30. To register call the Sedona Parks and Recreation Department at 928-282-7098.
The Posse Grounds Bike Skills Park is located at 525 Posse Ground Rd.
