Local Community Protests Cruel Practices of “Traveling Circus”Cottonwood AZ (September 5, 2018) – The Jordan World Circus performance at the Verde Valley Fairgrounds in Cottonwood on Monday September 10 will be met with a peaceful protest from local community members. Protesters will meet at 3:30 PM.“Jordan Circus consistently ranks as among the cruelest of traveling circuses by animal advocate organizations” says Karen Melillo, a protest organizer. Sedona AZ (September 4, 2018) – Neighbors noticed a house on fire across the street from their residence in the Casa Contenta neighborhood on Sunday. After dialing 9-1-1 they alerted the occupants of the home who were unaware that their roof was on fire. Sedona Fire District firefighters extinguished the blaze and saved the structure although the roof and attic were heavily damaged. “Residents in the neighborhood reported that they heard thunder from a nearby lightning strike but no one actually saw the strike hit the structure,” said Fire Investigator Rick Evans.

Sedona AZ (September 3, 2018) – The Verde Valley High Performance Swim Team, which originated in 2014, is pleased to announce their new name: Sedona Race Pace Club.The Sedona Race Pace Club is the first USA swim club in Arizona to use the Ultra Short Race Pace Training (USRPT) method during all practices. USRPT is the same method used by Olympian Michael Andrew. Due to the Sedona Race Pace Club team motto: “We train hard, we have fun and we swim fast”, a new name was needed to showcase the nature of this competitive growing youth team.

If you have any questions please call the Finance Dept. at 928.204.7185.” This statement is false as there is NO adopted rate increase for FY 18-19 to rescind.
Sedona AZ (August 30, 2018) – A homeowner in the Les Springs sub-division awoke early this morning to the sound of a smoke detector. Upon investigation, the homeowner discovered that the recreational vehicle in the garage was on fire. Thinking quickly, he was able to pull the RV out of the garage. When firefighters from the Sedona Fire District arrived they were able to extinguish the fire and remove smoke from the structure.
