Sedona AZ (February 2, 2012) – Arizona Public Service (APS) crews will resume their work clearing vegetation in the power line corridor on the Coconino National Forest, just west of State Route 89A to Dry Creek Road. The public can expect to hear crews working and see the vegetation being removed in the area, as many Forest Service trails intersect the corridor.  Vegetation removal is expected to continue over the next month and half.  The first section crews will be working on is between Oak Creek and the Jim Thompson Trailhead.

And yes, we are inviting anyone, that includes authors starting from, ‘I have an idea’, ‘up and writing’ and ‘published authors’, who has always wanted to write a screenplay but don’t know where to start.

Verde Valley AZ (January 31, 2012) – MATFORCE is attacking the prescription drug abuse epidemic by launching its “Sign Up to Save Lives” Campaign.  The campaign is directed at physicians and pharmacists in Yavapai County, asking them to register for and use the Arizona Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMP).  The program includes a computerized central database tracking system to track the prescribing, dispensing and consumption of Schedule II, III, and IV controlled substances in Arizona.  Using the tracking system limits one of the practices that abusers use of ‘pill shopping’ from doctor to doctor.

Sedona AZ (January 31, 2012) – On Saturday, January 28, 2012, the City of Sedona held its second annual Electronics Recycling day at City Hall. This year’s event built on the success of the previous year, with an increase of volume from just over 10,000 pounds last year, to an estimated 19,245 pounds collected this year.

Flagstaff AZ (January 30, 2012) – Did you know that Arizona is visited by over 200 bald eagles during the winter? To learn more about these amazing birds and to see live eagles, the public is invited to attend this year’s Bald Eagle Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Willow Bend Environmental Educational Center at 703 E. Sawmill Road in Flagstaff. There will be a choice of three presentations at this popular event, which is hosted by the Willow Bend Center and the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Sedona AZ (January 30, 2012) – The Sedona Women, Dames Who Make A Difference, are pleased to announce that they are offering one or more individual scholarships of up to $2500 each. The scholarships will be awarded this May to women whose education has been interrupted and who are planning to resume, or have resumed, their education.  Applicants must be permanent residents of the Verde Valley which encompasses Sedona, Cottonwood, Cornville, Camp Verde, Rimrock, Lake Montezuma, and the Village of Oak Creek and must already have been accepted at an accredited academic or vocational institution.
