By Ted Grussing … it only seems appropriate to find One taking a dreamy rest on the softest pillow you can imagine and clutching another pillow to rest her paw on. Such is life in the ether and the unknown is just a few thousand feet away from us … maybe closer … I successfully negotiated an 80 degree bank to get the heck out of the way and there was still a lot of sky left for me to play in. One has made things a little difficult for me tonight as she has been crashed on my Wacom…
Sedona AZ (August 26, 2014) – Come join Karen Russell for a fun and informative movie night with a lively discussion afterwards. Organic popcorn and snacks will be served. “Your back pain will require SURGERY”. “Without these pills, you face life-long PAIN”. “Your child’s behavior requires MEDICATION”. That’s what the doctor tells you, but who tells the doctor what to say?
By Betsy KleinDirector of Marketing & Development Sedona AZ (August 25, 2014) – The Humane Society of Sedona (HSS) is looking for more foster parents for its expanding pet fostering program. Foster parents provide a temporary, loving home, to pets that have lost their own homes and find a shelter environment difficult to adjust to. Fostering an animal dramatically increases the chance of being adopted as foster parents provide a loving home, socialization, security, food and where necessary, training or medication to their foster animals.
By Ted Grussing … with engine silent the dance begins thousands of feet above the clouds … paths are chosen as you descend to cloud level and then the fun as you wheel through cloud canyons picking paths, cranking and banking to music only you can hear and then you emerge below them … engine back on and climb another five thousand feet to begin again …
By Jennifer Epperson Sedona AZ (August 25, 2014) – Have you been contemplating the questions flying around town? While Sedona enjoys it summer slumber, artists have been busy asking questions, and they are not simple ones. Tina Mion, artist in our fair town and in Winslow, recently provided a provocative question for artists and art lovers. As part of the NAU Summer Seminar Series at Mary Fisher Theatre artist Tina Mion asked, “Why Am I Here?” and the audience contemplated along with her. When she asked how many in the audience were from Sedona, not a single hand was raised.…

By Lin Ennis, Sedona Resident(August 24, 2014) A significantly disproportionate number of incarcerated people are mentally ill, some severely. Often their crimes are crimes of survival – vagrancy, loitering, stealing food, panhandling. Do you know a studio apartment in Arizona costs 93 percent of an SSI or SSDI check?–making housing unaffordable for adults living with serious mental illness who rely on SSI.
By Barbara Mayer, Sedona Resident(August 24, 2014) Dear Editor: It is now 2014. A rather long way from the Dark Ages. Our species has now reached a point where compassion and intelligent caring of our mentally ill can be treated with a host of different therapies. We also now have brilliant and dedicated professionals ready to serve and help heal our mentally ill sisters and brothers.
By Tommy Acosta As part of my work I drive up and down 89A numerous times during the day. Sometimes the traffic is light, other times medium and not-too-often heavy. When the traffic is slow I get to look at the beauty surrounding us. When it’s not heavy I catch a glimpse here and there and get to where I need to go. When I hear some people in this town consider the traffic situation in Sedona a near “crisis” I got to scratch my head and ask why.
Information & Opinion by Warren Woodward (August 24, 2014) Last month APS finally admitted how often their “smart” meters transmit. APS said no more than 125 times per day. They lied. Watch my YouTube video, APS Caught Lying Again, linked in my letter to the Arizona Corporation Commission, and you’ll see an APS “smart” meter that knocks out 53 microwave transmissions in just a minute and a half. At that rate, the daily total is 50,880, nowhere near 125.
By Barbara Litrell, Sedona Resident(August 23, 2014) Chip Davis and representatives from the Jail District are meeting with groups to explain the ¼ cent increase in sales tax that will be on the November ballot to fund a new jail in Prescott. Of course people will favor a sales tax increase over the alternative, a property tax increase. That’s called a “forced choice” and either way taxes go up and the county gets another jail. The real question that needs to be asked, and has not been addressed in articles and presentations about the jail tax, is whether taxpayer dollars…
By Mike Schroeder, Sedona Resident(August 23, 2014) All my friends in Sedona, I have written several articles and comments on the mayoral campaign which fortunately will be over next week. I have commented via written articles and responses to news stories that the campaign in Sedona is taking on a familiar pattern that was applied to two of my groups on a couple political issues over the last several years. Lies, deceit, mis-representation and scare tactics. Nothing has changed apparently in our fine city.
