Flagstaff AZ (August 1, 2016) – Fire managers on Coconino National Forest continue to use several lightning-caused fires to benefit the landscape by allowing them to burn in confined areas. The fires will consume heavy fuel accumulation—dead vegetation on the forest floor—which will cultivate healthier wildlife habitat by breaking down dead underbrush and releasing nutrients into the soil so new vegetation can thrive.
By Barbara Litrell(July 29, 2016)The City of Sedona hired Cityscape a consulting firm, to advise the city on site locations for future cell towers as the country expands wireless access through the recently passed 5G initiative. The consultant did a powerpoint which is available on the City website. On one slide she noted, “the city will have a say in regard to public health, safety and welfare.” Unfortunately, that’s not true when it concerns adverse health effects of increased exposure to RF radiation from the expanded cell tower network planned.
By Ted Grussing… a blending of two realities join and my little huntress launches attacks on prey before they have a chance to exercise their instinct for flight, but since this is my interpretation of the twitching and movements in her dream state I hope I got it right for her. She does have the making of a smile on her face as she dreams on. Thanks to Eric for a great backyard where a large part of the winged population of the village resides and some neat background too … One of course is as at home launching attacks…

Flagstaff AZ (July 29, 2016) – Lightning-caused wildfires occur on the Coconino National Forest more often than people realize and they keep Forest Service firefighters busy—especially during monsoon.Fire managers seek to safely and strategically manage some lightning-caused wildfires to allow fire to accomplish multiple objectives—including, but not limited to, keeping communities safe from large severe wildfires and allowing fire to play its natural role in the ecosystem by cleaning up the forest under safer conditions and producing less smoke than would naturally be present each year.

By Stephen Craver, Engineering SupervisorSedona AZ (July 28, 2016) – Traffic congestion and circulation issues have been a long-standing concern for Sedona residents. Traffic conditions will predictably continue to deteriorate as the city approaches build-out, if no action is taken to address the current situation and future needs.Although various traffic-related studies have been completed over the past 25 years, due to the age of some of these studies, variations in focus, changes in conditions and evolving best practices, an updated comprehensive study is necessary.
By Ted Grussing… looking back to the first of the month … the air was clean … cloud base was only around 9,000’ and the sole mission was to enjoy the moment and play in the sky … I like days like that. The airport is right off my nose and cathedral rock is between the propeller and the instrument panel … what fun! That pretty much was the main attraction today and again tomorrow like what better way to start a day and 12,000’ + the temps were in the high 40’s to low 50’s, sweet!
