Sedona AZ (September 19, 2018) – Containment lines have successfully prevented the Platypus/Rhino Fire from moving forward to the north and east. Crews will to continue patrolling and mopping up these areas.Significant growth to the south is not anticipated, but there is still potential for fire to move along the southern edge of the original Rhino Fire through fingers of vegetation in steep, rugged canyons. Firefighters will be closely monitoring the area and may utilize helicopters to assist with suppression efforts should the need arise.

Sedona AZ (September 19, 2018) – The Forest Service will be placing boulders along Forest Road 152, known locally as Vultee Arch Road, near Dry Creek Trailhead, on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 19 and 20) to better define the travel corridor for the numerous visitors it receives.FR 152 and the Dry Creek Trailhead will not be closed while this work is being completed, however, visitors should be prepared to encounter road flaggers and experience short delays while equipment is being operated.

Cottonwood AZ (September 18, 2018) – On 9-17-18 at about 8:20 PM. Verde Valley Fire, Cottonwood Fire, Verde Valley Ambulance Company, Yavapai County Sheriff Office, Arizona Department of Public Safety and Cottonwood Police were dispatched to a Vehicle accident on Hwy 260 and Rio Mesa Trail.On arrival units found a four vehicle accident blocking the west bound roadway. Cottonwood AZ (September 17, 2018) – On the morning of September 17, 2018, Verde Valley Fire District and Cottonwood Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Hwy 89a and Zelesky Rd. for a two vehicle T-Bone accident. On arrival VVFD found a two vehicle collision in the intersection with Cottonwood Police Department on scene assessing the situation.A total of three patients were transported to Verde Valley Medical Center for treatment.
