Final paving, striping to take place over six weeksCamp Verde AZ (April 5, 2019) – After a wet and cold fall that forced an early winter hiatus, the Arizona Department of Transportation is set to return later this month to complete a State Route 260 widening project that will enhance travel and mobility between Camp Verde and Cottonwood.Starting April 17, crews will begin laying the final layer of asphalt along the widened 9-mile stretch of SR 260. Paving will take about two weeks and require lane closures in each direction while crews work.

Sedona AZ (April 5, 2019) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting a special workshop on the value and care of hand embroidery, needlework, quilts, and other textiles on Saturday April 13 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with Margaret Azpeitia-Taylor. Entitled “What’s It Worth”, the workshop is more than an appraisal workshop. It will also explore best practices for care and tips for storage/materials to use to insure family heirlooms and collected examples of hand-stitched items last for generations.

Cottonwood AZ (April 5, 2019) – The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus performances at the Camp Verde Community Center Field on Tuesday, April 16 will be met with peaceful protests from local Verde Valley community members.  Protesters will meet at the site at 4:15 PM, preceding the 5 PM show, and again at 6:45, preceding the 7:30 PM show.

Clarkdale AZ (April 4, 2019) – The Clarkdale Town Council invites the community to an Open House where attendees can meet the finalists for the Town Manager position. The Open House will be held on Wednesday, April 17 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Clark Memorial Clubhouse (19 N. 9th Street in Clarkdale).During the Open House community members and regional stakeholders will have the opportunity to learn more about the Town Manager search process, meet the candidates, and provide feedback to the Town Council.

Prescott AZ (April 4, 2019) – It is with great sadness that Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher recognizes the passing of retired Sheriff Buck Buchanan on April 2nd 2019.  Sheriff Mascher stated, “I highly respected him as a traditional Arizona law man who I considered as very good friend and mentor having worked for him for 16 years.  He will be missed and this is truly an end to an Era.”Sheriff Buchanan held the office of Sheriff in Yavapai County for four terms from January 1st, 1989 to December 31st 2004 before retiring.  

Sedona AZ (April 4, 2019) – The Sedona Heritage Museum is hosting the next in its Living History speaker series on Thursday April 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the Museum when Smoki Museum director Cindy Gresser will present “The History of the Smoki”.In 1931, a group of white Arizona residents envisioned a way to promote Prescott to visitors by enacting supposed Native American ceremonial dances.  Adopting the name the ‘Smoki Tribe’, they organized and began to hold ceremonial presentations and dances at a pueblo in downtown Prescott.
