By Ted Grussing … in my wildlife photography both winged and not I look for an opportunity to get those shots where the wing positions or expressions and body positions create a sense of elegance and pleasing form and I will usually discard dozens of otherwise good photos because they do not bring that ineffable quality to the overall beauty of the image. I need to discard thousands more … did a few hundred today. I took this shot at the Gilbert Riparian Area … should know the species, but other than a shorebird I’ll leave it to my birder…

By Ted Grussing I took this shot in January on a late afternoon flight on the east side of the San Francisco Peaks … in the left foreground you have a beautiful look at Sunset Crater with the view that I get of it; due to a collapse of part of the crater rim on the east side the caldera is heart shaped and this is a feature you will never see from the ground and that along with its sometime reddish color makes it the perfect gift for Valentine’s Day.
Cottonwood AZ (November 3, 2014) – The Cottonwood Community Band kicks off the Holiday Season with a concert of Christmas music and other musical selections in Cottonwood and Sedona. The Cottonwood concert is November 16th at 3 PM at the Mingus Union High School Auditorium 1801 E. Fir St. The band will repeat the concert on November 23rd at 3 PM at the Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 390 Dry Creek Road in Sedona. Both concerts are free and open to the public.

Before you cheer or lament, she is coming back, after she trucks her newest public artwork to what is known as the “Copper Corridor”. A major historic branding project, “The Ore Cart Trail” is located in Central Arizona, marking the area while acknowledging the value of copper mining in Arizona’s history. It is a Public Art project funded by the Federal Department of Transportation to the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition, a multi town organization that celebrates their role in copper mining.
