… we get fly by’s all of the time, but it is kinda fun to see a very close fly by of a western grebe by a hen golden eye duck. She was all by herself when we spotted her and unlike the larger flocks of golden eyes that have been skittish at the least, she allowed us within a hundred feet before she flew. With a sharp beak such as the grebe has, methinks that I would give him a little wider berth as I barreled by him at high speed, or was this an avian game of chicken?…

… I love this shot of the Sedona Mittens … everything has a dusting or more of snow and the beautiful Arizona sky is poking through the large gaps between clouds in the north eastern sky. This is also the view that the pilot has as he leaves the run up area at the north end of Sedona’s airport as he enters runway 21, a 90 degree right turn and you accelerate down the runway and enter flight. No idea how many times I looked up canyon like this before taking off, but each time, the feelings of “this is…

Sedona News – The Sedona Historical Society (SHS) and its volunteers recently partnered with volunteers from Friends of the Forest to implement some critical work to stabilize the historic Thompson springhouse at Indian Gardens. The springhouse was originally built about 1905-06, and a house was built next to it about 1910. By Amaya Gayle Gregory Today has been a day for musing, pondering fear and denial and how they fit together. For a long time, perhaps as long as I’ve been putting two plus two together, I’ve thought that there must be a reason, thought patterns or something, a genuine equation for the way people think, especially those who think things that I find inconceivable, who hold restrictive ideas that wouldn’t even fit in the Dark Ages … like climate shift is a hoax or Trump is a good man.  I couldn’t … still can’t … understand what kind of thinking…
