Spencer Young was recognized for his promotion at the May 23, 2017 meeting of the District’s Board of Directors. Fire Chief Nazih Hazime noted that Young became a full-time firefighter at Verde Valley Fire District in February, 2007.

Cornville AZ (May 23, 2017) – On May 22, 2017, at approximately 10:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to a motorcycle collision on Cornville Road east of Highway 89, Cornville. Deputies spoke to at least one witness who provided some initial details.The rider, 31-year-old Luke Miller from Rimrock, was travelling east on Cornville Road in the switchback (milepost 3) section of the roadway. Miller apparently failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the motorcycle and slid across the westbound lane into the guardrail. He was not wearing a helmet and found near his motorcycle with severe head injuries.
