Sedona AZ (May 23, 2013) – Travelers on the State Route 89A near Sedona will soon pass newly painted traffic light structures on SR 89A between Airport and Upper Red Rock Loop roads, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. DPS plans to be especially vigilant on the highway system throughout the state this weekend Phoenix AZ (May 23, 2013) – In 2012, five people were killed in four separate crashes on our state highways during Memorial Day weekend. Three of the four fatal crashes involved alcohol. DPS encourages drivers to remain sober during their travels so that everyone can enjoy this holiday weekend. A total of 212 crashes occurred during the 2012 Memorial Day weekend with 85 people being injured. DPS will be monitoring our state highways in an effort to reduce these numbers.

Sedona AZ (May 22, 2013) – As fire danger increases fire restrictions become effective throughout the Sedona Fire District, Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 8:00 am. These restrictions include all open fires and campfires. Fireworks and other pyrotechnic displays are expressly prohibited. Other types of outdoor fires banned are those that produce open flames such as lamp oil in tiki lamps. The ban also prohibits the outdoor use of equipment that generates open flames or a spark.
