By Ted Grussing … I got an early start this morning and lifted off about 6:15A … very little beauty anywhere to be seen because the entire earth seems to be wrapped in a smoke haze from burns … so I just kept climbing and climbing as I headed NE. It was cooler and definitely nicer up there … not sure how high I climbed but well in excess of 15,000 feet. I spent some time over the San Francisco Peaks and took this shot from the backside just outside the caldera and shooting towards the SW.

Sedona AZ (July 28, 2014) – The Well Red Coyote bookstore in West Sedona kicks off its annual summer concert series on Friday, August 1, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, with “An Evening of Acoustic Blues,” featuring Joe Neri, Hutch Hutchinson and Gregg Gould. This popular summer concert series is always fun, showcasing some of Northern Arizona’s best musicians. Verde Valley AZ (July 28, 2014) – As part of the State of Arizona’s FY 2015 budget, Yavapai College received $802,900 to bolster educational efforts in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) and Workforce areas. “The Career Technical Education Center in Prescott and the Southwest Wine Center on the Verde Valley campus in Clarkdale present the strongest opportunities for workforce development leading to direct job growth,” said Clint Ewell, vice-president of finance and administrative services.   “In support of both programs, the STEM funding will be used for capital expansion and development of both facilities.”

Cottonwood AZ (July 26, 2014) – The Amigos del Verde Valley Volunteer Coalition  today announced its new “Amigos Heart-to-Heart Seniors’ Yard Adoption and Beautification Programs” to benefit low income and elderly homeowners in Cottonwood, Clarkdale and the Verde Villages with ongoing yard care and beautification. These community volunteer programs are designed to help seniors prevent overgrown yards; avoid the risks of injury and heat-related illnesses if they attempt to perform the yard work themselves; and to increase seniors’ pride in their homes while beautifying the entire neighborhood.
