Sedona AZ (December 1, 2014) – On November 27, 2014, a 61-year-old Tucson woman suffered a fatal fall while hiking near the Devil’s Bridge outside Sedona in the Coconino National Forest. Verde Valley AZ (December 1, 2014) – The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office will be TESTING the Emergency Notification System (ENS), also known as Code Red, this Wednesday, December 3rd, by calling the entire community. The calls will begin at 10 AM and will continue until the entire database has been attempted. These calls will give Yavapai Sheriff Communication’s personnel the chance to operate the system as if there has been a community wide disaster.

Camp Verde AZ (November 29, 2014) – On November 26, 2104, around 2:30 AM, deputies saw a black passenger car travelling in excess of 80 mph in a 65 mph speed zone on north I 17 in Camp Verde. The vehicle exited towards highway 260 and ran a red light as it entered the highway. Due to the violations, deputies stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver, Marie Bonnesen, age 31 from Peoria. The vehicle also contained 2 passengers identified as Xavier Alaniz, 24 years of age from Goodyear, and Harley Partch, 20 years of age from Avondale.

Clarkdale AZ (November 26, 2014) – The Clarkdale Historical Society and Museum invites everyone to relive the day shots rang out on Main Street in Clarkdale. On an early spring morning in 1928, infamous criminals Willard Forrester and Earl Nelson attempted to rob the Clarkdale branch of the Bank of Arizona. The robbery was thwarted by several citizens, including Deputy Sheriff Jim Roberts, famous western lawman.
Camp Verde AZ (November 26, 2014) – On November 23, 2014, around 4:30 PM, deputies were dispatched to a wash area off Forest Road 9203J, northeast of Camp Verde, regarding an SUV that appeared stranded in the wash. The reporting party also heard some yelling near the vehicle but could not get close enough to see what was happening. Deputies arrived and had to utilize a 4×4 vehicle on a portion of the road and then could only access the target location after hiking another ½ mile.
Cottonwood AZ (November 25, 2014) – UPDATE – Based on investigative leads developed over the last few days, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Bureau were able to identify the Garcia’s Market robbery suspect as 29-year-old Jason Bunescu from Cottonwood. This morning, detectives located Bunescu at Yavapai College in Clarkdale and arrested him without incident. Bunescu is also on active probation and subsequent to his arrest, detectives completed a probation search of his home. During the search, detectives located a quantity of heroin and a large amount of stolen jewelry which has been linked to an area burglary still under investigation.

The daughter of a friend is a commercial florist growing orchids and brings some to her dad periodically … I was lucky enough to be walking by and he stopped me to introduce us … she made a gift of several orchid plants and here is photo of a few blooms on one of them. I debated between using the branch or a shot of just a single bloom … the branch won.
